At WINNING, each student embarks on their own unique learning journey. This time, we sat down with Momoka (22 years old), a recent university graduate who decided to use her free time before starting her professional career to study abroad at WINNING. We discussed why she chose WINNING, her experiences at the school, and the highlights of her time in Cebu.
Issa: Please introduce yourself.
Momoka: My name is Momoka. I am 22 years old. I graduated from university and came to WINNING to make use of my free time before becoming a working adult. Nice to meet you!
Issa: Nice to meet you too. First question: Why did you choose WINNING among the many language schools in the Philippines?
Momoka: When I consulted with an agent about studying abroad, they introduced me to about three language schools, and I chose WINNING. The reasons I chose WINNING were that it was the cheapest and had a low ratio of Japanese students.
Issa: Thank you. Next question: After studying at WINNING for a month and a half, what do you think are the good points about WINNING?
Momoka: First of all, the teachers are all kind. Also, the hotel is very close to the school, so I can sleep until the last minute. (laughs)
Issa: I see! (laughs) Being able to sleep until the last minute is important, right? (laughs) Thank you. What do you think about the classes at WINNING?
Momoka: I took ESL courses for the first three weeks and then took IELTS courses for the remaining three weeks. I found the IELTS courses to be difficult.
Issa: I haven’t taken IELTS, but it sounds difficult. (laughs)
Momoka: It’s really difficult! Especially the reading section; there are many passages, so I struggle a lot. (laughs) I haven’t taken the exam yet, so I’ll take it for the first time after returning to Japan!
Issa: Good luck! I’m rooting for you! Next, I want to ask about your memories in Cebu.
Momoka: The best memory is going to Oslob. I went with friends from Saudi Arabia, teachers, and Japanese friends, and it was a lot of fun. The relationship between teachers and students is close and friendly, like friends, so I enjoyed it a lot. Also, I enjoyed going to night markets, shopping malls, and doing other things, even though they weren’t anything special!
Issa: Finally, would you recommend WINNING to your friends or people considering studying abroad?
Momoka: Yes, I would recommend it! In other schools, there are often many people, and it might be hard to remember everyone’s names. But I think WINNING has a small community, so it’s easy to become friends with everyone. Also, the teachers and staff are close to the students, so if you enjoy communication, I think you’ll have fun!
Issa: Thank you very much.
